Meet Our Research Team


Yvonne Mashburn Schmidt, Certified Genealogist®

Yvonne holds the Certified Genealogist® credential and is a native Georgian. Her focus areas include lectures, presentations, and workshops on methodology and DNA analyses. She specializes in Georgia records and southern ancestral families. Her work has been published in national and state peer-reviewed publications and regional magazines. She is the owner of The Georgia Genealogist, Inc.


Lori Cook-Folger, Certified Genealogist®

Lori holds the Certified Genealogist® 

credential and has been researching since 1984. She specializes in research in the Southern states, some Midwest research, and DNA. She is a published author and enjoys piecing together clues left behind to preserve family histories. Lori is the owner of Southern Genealogist, LLC


Clarise Soper,

Certified Genealogist®

Clarise has been conducting genealogical research for over 30 years and is certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists.® She specializes in the states of Mississippi and Alabama as well as forensic and genetic genealogy. Clarise, a published author, frequently gives presentations at genealogical and historical societies on repatriation of MIA/POW soldiers and other topics. 

Emilie Belle Mulkey,

Research Assistant

Emilie is a fifth year BSBA at Georgia Tech pursuing a dual major in International Affairs with a concentration in European Affairs, the Transatlantic Relationship, and in Strategy and Innovation. She serves as President of the Georgia Tech Mock Trial Executive Board and VP of Greek Life at Georgia Tech and will pursue a Juris Doctor degree after graduation Dec. 2020.
